Zouk star Slaï ready for the return of Kigali Jazz Junction

Organizers RG-Consult say next month’s event, dubbed A Franco-Anglo Affair, will feature French zouk musician Slaï as headliners. He will be supported by the Rwandan-Ugandan artist Lilian Mbabazi.

The previous edition, the first since the imposition of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, took place on March 25 and featured renowned Nigerian Afrobeats artist Timaya.

RG-Consult communications consultant Axelle Umutesi said Slai would make a second appearance at the event due to popular demand. She said the next edition will adopt a new format to cater to English and French speaking music lovers in the Rwandan capital.

“This edition is very special because in addition to returning to our old venue, Camp Kigali, which most of our audience love, it will feature a wide range of music – from jazz to zouk, R&B to afrobeats, and more. others. We can guarantee it will be unforgettable and we urge everyone not to miss what should be an amazing concert,” said Umutesi.

The live music series has been held in Kigali since 2015. It is dedicated to jazz, although other genres are often featured.

In early 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, he welcomed Joeboy from Nigeria as the lead actor. Past performers include Oliver Mtukudzi (Zimbabwe), Isaiah Katumwa (Uganda), Awilo Longomba (DRC), Cece Sagini (Kenya), Seyi Shay (Nigeria), Tito Al Uribe (Chile) and Zahara (South Africa), among many others.
