2020 has been a trying year overall, but the ramifications for the arts have been particularly devastating. As concerts and festivals around the world continue to be canceled and many artists struggle to make ends meet, Highsnobiety has partnered with the iconic Newport Jazz Festival for an online charity music program aimed at raise funds for musicians affected by the pandemic.
Introducing Highsnobiety Jazz TV: a three-day content experience that will transform our digital platform into a public access television channel dedicated to the art form of jazz. The program will feature a lineup of performances, DJ sets and panels from the music and fashion world, including Virgil Abloh, Alex Da Kid, Tremaine Emory, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and many more.
Jazz has always been an unwavering beacon for creative freedom across the worlds of fashion and design. Highsnobiety Jazz TV is a celebration of this breaking musical boundaries and the power of creativity, even in difficult times, and we share the moment with our community.
“Especially in such a politically charged time, where public life has been disrupted, we wanted Jazz TV to create a ‘global lounge’ where the creative community could enjoy and share the music that inspires us,” said the editor of Highsnobiety. Thom Bettridge. “So many artists from so many fields owe such a creative debt to jazz, so our goal was to give back even a tiny fraction of that void that we feel without having live music in the world.”
Highsnobiety Jazz TV is a love letter to creativity, and we’re marking the occasion with an exclusive merchandise offering, including t-shirts, hoodies, baseball caps and tote bags. The collection debuts on the Highsnobiety Shop today, October 26, with a portion of all proceeds donated to the Newport Festival Musician Relief Fund, which provides financial assistance to musicians in folk and jazz communities who experience lost income. following the Covid -19 pandemic.
