Our third show of the season features Pete Mills B3 Quartet, Zaki Grill and J-Pops!

About the band: Hailing from Toronto, Canada, saxophonist and composer Pete Mills’ discography includes 4 solo tracks, the most recent of which, Sweet Shadow from 2014. The CD released on Vancouver’s Cellar Live Records label was acclaimed by the band. review – “A stellar recording” -JazzTimes, “Man, what gas! -DownBeat and a 4½ star rating from Dan McClenaghen at Allaboutjazz.com. In Columbus Ohio he performed as a featured soloist with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra (Music Director Byron Stripling).
Educated at the Eastman School of Music and the University of North Texas, Mills received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and was a recipient of the North Carolina Arts Council Jazz Composer’s Fellowship. In addition to his performances, Mills teaches saxophone, improvisation and directs the jazz ensemble at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
Other things to know: This performance is FREE! Seats are available on the grass in front of the gazebo, so bring a blanket and umbrella (there isn’t much shade in the park yet!). Zaki Grill will serve their signature Mediterranean cuisine, and J-Pops will tempt us with their delicious artisanal popsicles in a range of flavors! There is also a play area next to the gazebo for children. The Harrison West Society will be making chalk available to anyone who wants to do their art while they enjoy the concert. And ** NEW THIS YEAR ** Saucy Brew Works – Columbus will be having a special happy hour just for the Jazz scene after the show!
