Brixton Village Lates announces free DJ nights playing Funk, Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, Reggae, Latin, House and more – Brixton Buzz



After a short hiatus, the team at Brixton Village Lates are back with another summer of music from a DJ program from both markets. This year will see the usual mix of surprise DJs and promoters, playing the best of Funk, Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, Reggae, Latin, House and more.

Highlights include Just Vibez on Windrush Day weekend, Filipino Funk & Soul by Pinoy Grooves, original Soul II Soul DJ Aitch B, sweet sunny music from Palms Wine West African by Zezi Ifore. OpenDecks with Miss Soxee, alternative African electronic dance music lover, label boss, producer and MC T-Roy and Mark Force of Bugz In The Attic.

Organizer of the iconic Brixton Speakers Corner Hip Hop event and international ambassador for the global Hip Hop platform End Of The Weak, Snuff has been a regular dj since Breakfast Jam East Africa Breakin ‘Championships held annually as well as tours with Dead Prez,

Immortal Technique, The Pharcyde, Arrested Development, Public Enemy, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and many more.

A vinyl collector, promoter, distributor and resident of the London-based BBE Store, DJ Patrick “2 Funky” Steele has been a part of the city’s music scene since the mid-1980s, where he quickly gained a reputation for playing a varied selection of music and was a member of the original soul collective Confunktion playing many big sold-out underground parties.
In 2018, his radio shows Global Soul Radio and on Realhouse radio won the Mixcloud Online Radio Listener’s Choice award for Best Funk / Soul Show on the streaming platform service, winning thousands of new listeners in part of the world’s largest celebration of the rapidly changing online radio landscape.
Patrick is a regular guest at many parties such as Jazzfunksoul, Househuntin ‘, Pret a Couter and Makin-Moves, and several sets on Spiritland’s widely acclaimed sound system at Kings Cross. His sound has taken him abroad to various festivals, both at home and in Europe, including Soul in the Algarve (Portugal), Vocal Booth (Spain), Cork Jazz Festival (Ireland) and Suncebeat in (Croatia).

A young rookie in Pirate Radio, with appearances on both Kiss FM and Solar Radio in their prime, JM is a respected lifer in the game DJ, including helping set up Mi-Soul Radio and currently runs his own station. radio – Global Soul Radio.
